NHS Choices editorial rights granted

It has been announced that dentists can now request the facility to edit their practice profiles and respond to patient feedback on the NHS Choices website direct from the NHS Choices central helpdesk. The ability for dentists to do so has been provided following lengthynegotiations that have stressed the importance of practices being able to change information and counter any inaccurate postings. Previously practices had to apply to NHS commissioners for editing rights. This created an extra hurdle for them.

Practices that do not already have a registered web editor will be contacted over the coming weeks with information about how to access, edit and manage their profiles. More than 200,000 visits are made to the NHS Choices website every month, with some patients using it to compare services and make their choice of practice. It is therefore important that profiles are fully up to date and the BDA is encouraging members to take advantage of this facility.

Guidance for members on editing their profile is available on the BDA website.
