Tim Harker has been elected as the newest member of the BDA’s Principal Executive Committee (PEC). Dr Harker won a by-election for the Wales seat on the BDA’s governing body. He commented: ‘I am delighted to have been elected to the BDA’s Principal Executive Committee and wish to thank the many dentists across Wales who voted in the by-election’. The by-election was triggered by the decision of Dr Stuart Johnston to retire earlier this year.
A practice owner for over 25 years, Dr Harker is a former Chairman of Gwent Local Dental Committee and currently serves on the BDA’s Welsh Dental Practice Committee. He also acts as Treasurer for the annual LDC conference. Dr Harker has been a Foundation Trainer for the past seven years. His practice in Cwmbran, Gwent, holds NHS contracts for general dentistry and orthodontics, as well as a list of private patients.
Commenting on his election Dr Harker said: “I am delighted to have been elected to the BDA’s Principal Executive Committee and wish to thank the many dentists across Wales who voted in the by-election. I am passionate about the future of dentistry and I will make sure the PEC is aware of the implications of its decisions in Wales as well as the rest of the UK.”
