A ‘rescue package’ has been put together for Bodmin patients affected by the sudden closure of a local dental surgery. NHS England has agreed for Bodmin Dental to provide cover to the 2,500 patients in the Bodmin area who have been left without a dentist, following the immediate closure of George House Practice.
The surgery filed for bankruptcy in mid-December and closed without warning. Former patients of the closed practice will be contacted by Bodmin Dental to confirm the moving over of their treatment. The NHS will continue to provide the dental care once the rescue package ends in March. Paul Critchley, general manager for Peninsular Community Health Dental Ltd, has assured patients that “the package will continue for as long as it needs to”. The package will mean that patients who had already begun treatment at George House Practice and had already paid up-front for their treatment can continue with their treatment. The rescue package will also cover elderly patients with dentures need on-going support.
