During May, the Denplan events team were joined by 25 valiant dentists on an epic nine-day cycle ride. The 908-mile challenge took them from the northeast tip of Scotland, John O’Groats, to the furthest southerly part of England in Land’s End – all in the name of raising over £30,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
“I’d like to say a personal thank you to all the riders who took part in this challenge,” says Simon Eve, Denplan Events Manager. “Not only did all the fantastic participants make this a fun and rewarding experience, but we look set to smash our fundraising target of £30,000 for this amazingly worthwhile charity. The team at Denplan work very hard to develop a wide range of educational training events, fun hospitality and charitable endeavours and we’re always blown away with how much energy and passion our member dentists bring to the table. Thank you all very much.”
And to ensure that The Big One riders weren’t going it alone, for the five working days of their journey, Denplan employees matched their miles at the Winchester head office. By setting up a training bike and getting employees to sign up for 10 minute time slots, we racked up 900 miles over the five days which enabled our Charity Community Fund to add an additional £900 to the Macmillan fundraising!
Denplan Managing Director, Steve Gates, added: “When you’re affected by cancer, having the right kind of information and support, at the right time, is essential. That’s what Macmillan provides and we’re thrilled to be able to support them in such a significant way.”
