The General Dental Council (GDC) is reminding dental care professionals (DCPs) to pay their annual retention fee (ARF) to by 31 July 2015. The ARF is £116 for dental nurses, dental technicians, dental therapists, dental hygienists, clinical dental technicians and orthodontic therapists, a reduction from last year's fee of £120.
Payment must be received on or before 31 July 2015 if registrants want to remain on the GDC's register and be eligible to work. Payments cannot be processed after the deadline. All dental care professionals are reminded that they must be registered with the GDC to work in the UK.
The ARF payment facilities opened on 15 June 2015 and registrants can use one of the following options to pay their fee:
Option 1 - online
- Pay online using the eGDC online registrant portal up to 31 July 2015.
- If registrants do not already have an eGDC account they can set one up by visiting www.eGDC-uk.org. Registrants will require their Registration number and ID verification code, which can be found on their ARF notices.
Option 2 - payment by phone
- Make a payment by credit or debit card over the phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 0800 197 4610 (+44 207 000 3650 from overseas) up to and including 31 July 2015.
- Registrants will require their Registration number and ID verification codes, which can be found on their ARF notices.
DCPs who fail to make the payment on or before the 31 July 2015 may be removed from the GDC's register and will not be eligible to work. A list of those people removed from the register will be circulated to UK Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), Health Boards and Indemnity providers to enable them to keep their records up to date.
Those registrants removed for non-payment will also incur further costs and will be unable to practice until they apply for and are successful in restoring their name to the register.
The GDC is also encouraging DCP registrants to make their annual CPD declarations at this time. More than three thousand DCPs are coming to the end of their 2010-2015 CPD cycle on 31 July 2015. They are reminded that an end of cycle statement submission is mandatory to ensure their continued registration. DCPs who fail to submit a CPD declaration will put their registration at risk.
Declarations can be made via www.egdc-uk.org or by return of the statement included in the ARF notices.
