Wright Health Group, the Dundee-based dental supplies business, has increased profits by 46 per cent in its latest year in spite of the challenges posed by cuts in government and consumer spending. The latest accounts for the company show Wright Health Group made £1.9m pre-tax profit in 2015, compared with £1.3m in the preceding year.
The company increased sales by around 14 per cent, £7.4m, to £59.1m. In the strategic report in the accounts directors said the group faced challenging trading conditions during the year. The company achieved solid growth in the provision of dental materials through the strategic expansion of its sales teams.
But, directors noted: “In common with its major competitors, sales of capital equipment were difficult as both state and private dentists curtailed their levels of capital investment.” They added: “Our customers face the challenge of reduced state funding and potential changes in the sophistication of treatment plans due to the pressures on disposable incomes of patients and their families.”
