To cycle the 874 miles from John O'Groats to Land's End is the challenge that Devon dentist Chris Gooderham has set himself to raise funds for Children's Hospice South West. He said: "Children's Hospice South West has always been a charity close to our hearts in my family. My wife's close friend and her family have experienced the amazing service that the charity provides over the last few years.
Chris continued: “Their daughter Lizzie was born with an incurable condition and sadly she passed away a few weeks ago. We know from her mum how valuable the Hospice has been in caring not just for Lizzie during her short time, but for the family too, providing valuable support and respite. My wife rode the 'Ride For Precious Lives' cycling challenge from St Austell to Bristol last year for the Hospice, now I felt it was my turn to do my bit.
"Cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End has always been an ambition of mine and happily I've been able to put aside some time to do it this year. I wondered how to put a slightly different slant on it to get a bit more attention for the cause and decided to see if I could do it non-stop. As so many people care for their loved ones with no break, I decided not to take a break either. It would be great to make as much money as I can for the hospice. Like I say on my online fundraising page, now is your chance to pay to see a dentist suffer!"
Chris' challenge starts on June 19, and he will be raising funds for the charity's Little Bridge House hospice near Barnstaple. If you would like to support Chris, you can sponsor him online at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/ChrisGooderham
