Prof Paul Coulthard to be Dean for Dentistry at Queen Mary

Professor Paul Coulthard has been appointed to the post of Dean for Dentistry and Director, Institute of Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. He said of the Institute: “(It) has an impressive history and strong reputation and provides a really exciting opportunity to build on existing achievements fostering excellence, innovation and a global reputation.”
Professor Coulthard will be joining Queen Mary on 1 January 2019 from the University of Manchester where he has been Head of the School of Medical Sciences, Dean of the Dental School and Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also Consultant in Oral Surgery at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where he undertakes day-case and in-patient operating.
Professor Coulthard has published over 180 scientific articles about postoperative pain management and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery issues, and was Principal Investigator for international studies showing the benefits of tissue adhesive compared to traditional alternatives such as sutures for the skin closure of long surgical incisions.
