COVID-19: Update: BOS issues legal advice to orthodontists

The British Orthodontic Society (BOS) has just released legal guidance to assist its practice owning members, and those in the wider dental community, with the legal issues arising from the Covid-19 pandemic. BOS Director of External Relations, Peter McCallum commented, “We feel sure that this document will be useful to our members and the wider dental community as well.”
The Covid-19 pandemic has placed a huge amount of stress on practice owners. This comprehensive guide[i] covers some of the key issues that should be considered by practice owners. These include:
- Furloughing
- Holiday and Sickness Leave issues
- Associates and non-employees
- PDS contracts
- GDC obligations
- Employment issues
- Data Protection
Director of External Relations, Peter McCallum commented, “In these testing times it is important to have expert advice from trusted sources. We feel sure that this document will be useful to our members and the wider dental community as well.”
The British Orthodontic Society advises that the Government guidance is continually being updated and this document sets out the author’s understanding of the law as at 15 April 2020.
