A former dental practice manager has been sent to prison for 26 weeks after stealing thousands of pounds from a dental practice where she worked.
Lisa Willows of Newton Aycliffe in County Durham, pleaded guilty to one charge of theft by employee at an earlier hearing held at Teeside Magistrates Court.
The Northern Echo reported that the 41 year-old was said to have stolen £8,822.22 from Skinnergate Dental Practice, in Darlington.
The court was told by John Garside, prosecuting, that the practice manager stole the money between October 2019 and October 2020.
At the sentencing hearing, Ms Willows was ordered to pay £5,000 in compensation.
The case closely follows the suspended two-year suspended prison sentence recently given to Jennifer Locke who was convicted at Caernarfon Crown of stealing more than £60,000 from BUPA Dental Care while she was practice manager at the company’s Colwyn Bay and Rhyl branch practices.
