The new College of General Dentistry (CGDent) is to offer its members access to over 900 hours of GDC compliant Continuing Professional Development resources.
CGDent has signed a partnership agreement with ProDental CPD to co-develop exclusive content and offer College members a comprehensive CPD and e-PDP package.
Members of the new College will be given immediate on-demand access to a library of over 350 online courses and recordings. The College says the CPD material will be accessible on computers and will also be optimised for mobile and desktop devices.
A statement from the College said “CGDent and ProDental will also be co-producing two webinars a month from July to discuss, and field questions on, subjects of interest to the general dental team - including the College’s guidance and standards publications, the papers and themes of its quarterly Primary Dental Journal (PDJ), and events to support the Career Pathways.”
CGDent and ProDental say they will also be co-producing two webinars a month from July to discuss, and field questions on, subjects of interest to the general dental team. These will - include the College’s guidance and standards publications, the papers and themes of its quarterly Primary Dental Journal and events to support the Career Pathways.
The College says that topics to be covered in the second half of 2021 will include the guidelines on antimicrobial prescribing, selection criteria for dental radiography, and clinical examination and record keeping, as well as upcoming PDJ issues on paediatric dentistry and on urgent dental care during COVID-19.
For CGDent members, the webinars will be free to watch live or on demand, and come with certified CPD hours.
The College says that non-members will be able to access these on a pay-as-you-go basis. For a limited period following the launch of the new College, the CGDent webinars will also be made available live to all dental professionals, with ProDental subscribers also able to access the recordings and CPD hours.
The College says it will open its doors to all registered dental professionals on 1 July, and will be the first independent college and only professional membership body in the UK specifically for primary care dentistry.
Registration of interest in joining the College of General Dentistry is now open at cgdent.uk/join-or-upgrade.
