Lord Toby Harris will complete his four year term on the council of the GDC and Chair of the Council in September 2025.
This is breaking news and we will add to this article when there is further information available.
The GDC website reports that a number of council members will also be completing their terms in September. Three new council members will be appointed in the next few months, and a new Chair will be appointed
The outgoing peer talks of his increasing commitments in Parliament in the new government, and that he will remain committed to the role of chair until the end of his term.
Lord Toby Harris commented on the significant progress made during his tenure so far: "The GDC has made substantial strides since I became Chair in October 2021. We’ve seen continued improvement in performance and maintained sustainable finances - including a 10% reduction in the Annual Retention Fee in 2024.”
“I’m conscious of the fact that my Parliamentary and political commitments are growing following the change in Government, and it was only after a lot of consideration that I decided not to seek a further term as Chair of the GDC. I remain fully committed to my role as Chair over the next 10 months."
