Didsbury Dental Practice in south Manchester operates twenty four hours a day.  It is the ’go to’ recommendation for many hotels, entertainment venues and conference centres across Manchester and offers a unique blend of a conventional dental services for its patients by day plus an emergency service which operates at all other times.

Speaking to GDPUK, owner Ray Pabla confirmed that at the time of the collison, two patients were seated in the waiting room whilst a third was being treated in one of the surgeries.  A receptionist was also present.  All were "very shaken" Mr Pabla said, but thankfully uninjured.

Greater Manchester Police said ’the car was spotted on ’false number plates’ at around 10pm. During a high-speed pursuit, the Range Rover travelled north on Palatine Road towards West Didsbury.

Officers used a sting device to bring the car to a halt, but the Range Rover crashed into a parked Audi before hitting the front of Didsbury Dental Practice. Two men, one in his 30s and one in his 40s, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking a vehicle without consent (TWOC) before being taken to hospital for treatment.’

Both men are understood to have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Mr Pabla told GDPUK that as a consequence of the accident his practice has had to close for the foreseeable future while assessments of the damage are undertaken and an action plan determined.  The CQC has been informed and the practice website is in the process of being updated.

"Structural engineers attended the practice at one in the morning, until that time it was deemed unsafe to remove the Range Rover in case of building collapse.  Steel girders have now been placed to support the walls and we’re waiting for the insurers to do a structural analysis" said Mr Pabla.

Didsbury Dental Practice had recently benefited from a refurbishment. Fortunately the damage, although considerable, did not extend to the surgeries.
