Ellis Paul awarded FGDP Fellowship

Ellis Paul, well known to many on GDPUK, has been awarded Fellowship from the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK). Dean Russ Ladwa told Ellis: ‘It is obvious for all to see that you have exceptional enthusiasm for your profession, and a willingness to help others along their chosen path. Your tireless work and support for dental practitioners to provide an improved quality of care for their patients is well known.”

Ellis has enjoyed a distinguished career, and his continuing work in education and publishing sees his influence within the profession remaining strong. Having qualified from Manchester Dental School in 1955, Ellis established a dental practice that he later converted into an all-private practice, one of the few in the north.

He served in the north west branch of the BDA before becoming chair of its private sub-committee in 1993. He also served on the north west council for the FGDP.

His work in lecturing took on a more innovative approach and, in conjunction with his wife Jennifer, Ellis pioneered the concept of seated four-handed dentistry. They still continue to teach it today and he has written textbooks on the subject of correct posture and team dentistry.
