The General Dental Council (GDC) is reminding all dentists not to miss the 31 December deadline to pay their annual retention fee (ARF) and remain on the register.It is important to remember that if dentists don’t pay, they will be putting their registration at risk. The GDC will not be able to accept any payments received after midnight on 31 December 2011.  |

A Which? investigation has found that some dentists fail to carry out basic examinations, spend limited time with patients and provide inappropriate treatment plans. Only 20 practices were investigated, ten NHS and ten private. Eleven of twenty visits rated poor or very poor. |

| The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has warned Dr Setumo Madiehe that improvements must be made to the practice at 7 West Street, Congleton, Cheshire. It is thought that this is the first time CQC has taken such action. The practice could be closed if improvements are not made. The local PCT has also expressed concerns about the practice. |
